THE PROCESS

How it works.

OpenLivestock helps cattle buyers and sellers find each other, talk directly and agree a deal — with the choice to sell at an agreed price or through a timed auction.

We provide the platform, promote the cattle and make the introduction. Buyer and seller agree the final transaction directly.

START TO FINISH

Four simple steps.

1
Sellers tell us what they have

Submit the cattle details, photographs and video. We review the information before sending the listing  live on the site.

2
We put the cattle in front of buyers

Registered buyers are alerted to new opportunities and we actively promote listings to help them reach beyond one local trading circle.

3
Buyers respond to the listing

Buyers can pursue a direct sale where available or bid through a timed auction. When appropriate, OpenLivestock brings the buyer and seller together.

4
Buyer and seller complete the deal

They talk directly, ask the questions that matter and agree payment, collection and the other practical arrangements between themselves.

OpenLivestock does not hold the purchase money. The livestock sale itself is between buyer and seller.
FOR SELLERS

Choose how to sell.

Sellers can choose the route that best suits the cattle and the situation.

Buy Now
AGREE A DIRECT SALE

A seller can offer cattle at a Buy Now price and interested buyers can make contact through OpenLivestock.

Buyer and seller can then discuss the cattle properly and agree the deal directly.

Best for: Sellers who are happy to agree a price per head or pence per kilo without bidding.

Timed Auction
LET BUYERS COMPETE

Timed auctions run for one week, with registered buyers placing anonymous bids in pence per kilogram.

The seller sets a confidential reserve before the auction starts.

If that reserve is reached, the successful buyer and seller are introduced to complete the transaction.
