QUICK ANSWERS
Common questions.
Q. What does OpenLivestock actually do?
A. OpenLivestock brings cattle buyers and sellers together. Sellers provide the details of cattle they want to sell, we create and promote the listing, and registered buyers can review the opportunity. Where there is interest, we help connect buyer and seller so they can discuss the cattle and agree the sale directly.
Q. How do I put cattle up for sale on OpenLivestock?
A. Once registered, you can provide us with the details of the cattle you want to sell, together with suitable photographs and video where available. We review the information before the listing goes live and can help make sure buyers have the information they need to properly consider the cattle.
Q. Does OpenLivestock pay me for my cattle?
A. We don't – the buyer pays you (the seller) directly. The expectation would be that the cattle would be paid for by Bank Transfer as the cattle go on the lorry. However, the choice on how you undertake the transfer of money in exchange for cattle is yours to agree when discussing the terms of the sale.
Q. Do buyers pay a fee to OpenLivestock?
A. No. OpenLivestock does not charge buyers a commission or buying fee. Buyers can review the opportunities available to members, make enquiries and bid in Timed Auctions without an OpenLivestock buyer charge. Any payment for cattle is made directly to the seller under the arrangements agreed between both parties.
