1. About OpenLivestock.co.uk

OpenLivestock.co.uk is an online marketplace forum that introduces cattle buyers and sellers. We do not process or hold purchase funds. Pricing is agreed directly between buyer and seller off-platform. Following agreement, we invoice the seller a commission (see terms and conditions of sale for reference.). We are not a party to any livestock sale contract.

2. Using the Site

  • You must be 18+ and acting in the course of a trade or business.

  • Create an account and choose a role: buyer, seller, or both.

  • Keep your login secure and accurate. You are responsible for activity on your account.

  • We may suspend, restrict or terminate access if you breach these terms or applicable law.

3. Listings, Buy-Now and auctions

  • Listings: Sellers submit listings (mandatory fields and media). We may review and approve for clarity and completeness but we do not verify accuracy. Sellers remain solely responsible for their listings.

  • Buy -  Now : Buy -Now is available from publication until the day before the scheduled auction. If you sell via Buy - Now, tell us and we will close the lot.

  • Auctions: Live auctions run via Zoom for approximately one hour weekly. Bids are placed in Zoom chat and administered by our auction team. If the winning bid meets or exceeds the seller’s minimum bid (reserve), the seller is obligated to sell.

  • Order of sale: Lots typically run by age class (calves → stirks → store → breeding → cull). We may modify ordering and timing.

4. Relationship between buyer and seller

  • Any sale contract is between buyer and seller only.

  • Payment and collection are agreed off-platform directly between the parties.

  • Each party must comply with all applicable laws and industry rules, including but not limited to animal health, TB testing and movement, transport, welfare, assurance schemes, and trading standards.
